Maria Cocquyt started as an independent ceramicist in 1995.

Only one year later, in 1996, she was selected at Design Flanders for her collection 'archeology', which she still makes today with ever-changing variations.

A number of international selections soon followed. In 1997, Japan purchased a pot sculpture from the 'archeology' collection for the Kutani International Decorative Ceramics Competition.

In 2000, this collection was selected by the Concorso Internazionale della Ceramica d'Arte Contemporanea and exhibited at the Museo delle Ceramiche in Faenza (Italy).

For many years, she had numerous exhibitions, abroad as well as national, both individual and group exhibitions.

Besides 'archeology', Maria Cocquyt also designed several other collections, including 'the actor'. For this, she drew on her fascination for the theatre world.

Her most recent collection 'archipelago' consists of very thin porcelain pot shapes.
